WoMEn 1000+: Women Micro Enterprises Network

The project is being implemented in Basin Bridge, Chennai and in Vilathikulam, Tuticorin. The project provides micro-credits for setting up of viable micro enterprises and Income Generating Activities by which the SHG-women gain increased income and increased participation in the (local) economy. This is also supported by developing entrepreneurial skills and enhancing vocational skills for sustainable development.

Kavarapettai, Chennai – Home Away from Home

Home Away from Home has residential care for the boys who are runaway, street children, juvenile delinquents and abandoned children. The home provides accommodation for 65 vulnerable boys and 35 children who are in conflict with law. These children are given home based care and protection and are followed up by a team of dedicated staff.

Pope John’s Garden – A Special Home

Pope Johns Garden is the home for the 60 HIV infected children and 102 Leprosy patients. Around 250 home based children care is also done from here. There are two Salesians, 3 Charles Borromew sisters, along with one doctor, two counselors, two nurses and two Wardens.

Don Bosco “Anbu Illam” – Coimbatore

Coimbatore ‘Anbu Illam’ is supporting 122 children for longer stay and 14 CWC children for shorter stay and is helping them in continuing their education. Don Bosco ‘Anbu Illam’, Coimbatore has the necessary infrastructure such as dormitory for the children, kitchen, toilets, recreational facilities, security and ambient environment for education.

Don Bosco “Anbu Illam” – Salem

Don Bosco ‘Anbu Illam’ at Salem provides sustenance and educational adoption to destitute street children, particularly those without homes and family ties, children especially vulnerable to abuse and exploitation, children of pavement dwellers. At any time, at least 100 street children are given shelter and protection with food.

Don Bosco “Anbu Illam” – Madurai

Children leaving their homes abandoned by parents and making streets their homes have become an increasing phenomenon in Madurai too, which is a major tourist attraction in the southern part of Tamil Nadu state. Two contact centres, at strategic points have been established in Madurai. The rescued children are counselled by the trained counsellors posted at the contact centres. These children are reunited with their parents/guardians. Necessary support is also being extended towards their education

Don Bosco “Sola Illam” – Yercaud

Don Bosco Sola Illam at Yercaud has all necessary infrastructures to accommodate, feed and educate these tribal children. In an average, about 30 tribal children from remote tribal villages are given accommodation, food and are educated.

Kadambur– Tribal Welfare

The project provides hostel facility for the children to complete their school education as the tribal populations live in inaccessible situations. It accommodates 43 boys and 40 girls who are pursuing their schooling in the campus. The mission also has 6-night study centres which cater to 150 tribal poor children in the surrounding villages of Kadambur provided with 6 tutors and a few volunteers.

Talavadi– Tribal Welfare

The project benefits 490 children (241Boys and 249 Girls) in the school. And hundreds of children are catered through 17 Night Study Centres at the service of 200 tribal children. A team around 20 management, teaching and part-time staff contribute to the holistic welfare of the children and people of the area at large.

Jawadhi Hills –Tribal Welfare

The project offers boarding facility for 165 tribal children and young people who are the students of the community college with proper infrastructure and nutrition. It also has spread its wings to 69-night study (1815 children) centres to provide better follow-up of unprivileged children. There are 15 regular staff and 76 part time teachers.
