Jewellery Making Training

The SPS India Foundation, in collaboration with the Desai Foundation Trust, organized a one-week jewellery-making program for tribal women in the village of Manjakuttai, Yercaud. This program focused on empowering and uplifting the tribal community by providing skill development opportunities to women from tribal backgrounds. Through the program, participants were engaged in hands-on sessions led by skilled and experienced trainers, covering a variety of jewellery-making techniques. The program included fundamental methods such as beadwork, wire wrapping, and basic metalwork, empowering the women to create unique and marketable pieces. The SPS India Foundation’s commitment to community development was evident, as they not only provided the necessary materials and tools but also emphasized sustainable practices and ethical sourcing. The participants gained insights into the entire jewellery-making process, from design conception to the final product, fostering a complete understanding of the craft. Beyond the immediate skill-building aspect, the program also addressed social and economic aspects, encouraging entrepreneurship among the tribal women. The participants were educated on market trends, pricing strategies, and the potential for establishing micro-enterprises, creating a pathway towards financial independence. The week-long program went beyond just skill-gaining; it raised a sense of establishment and community among the participants. The exchange of ideas and experiences, coupled with the encouragement from trainers and organizers, created an empowering and supportive environment. The collaborative efforts of the SPS India Foundation and the Desai Foundation Trust showcased the potential of combining skill development with community engagement for complete empowerment and a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the tribal women in Yercaud.
