COMBATING COVID19 IN YERCAUD UNION

TASK FORCE MEETING (17.05.2021)
@ The Retreat – Don Bosco

With the objective to prevent community spread by making the people to avail swap test, to bring awareness to the people, to create help desk and to collaborate and cooperate with the Government officials, the Retreat – Don Bosco formed a task force to combat Covid19 involving of Salesians, Doctors of PHO of Yercaud and youth volunteers at the Retreat- Don Bosco.
Fr. Raj and Dr. Thomson presented the situation of Shevaroyhills. He says, “He is saddened to see people avoiding Covid tests and spreading it in the family and in the community.” Hence, doctor insisted on the greater need to create awareness to avail Covid tests to prevent community spread. He was, however, extremely enthusiastic about a specific village, Madhur of Yercaud. The village chief and a few young people took the initiative to have swap test for all the villagers. Following the lead of this village, neighbouring villages have invited the medical team to have swap test to stop community spread. He also informed about the need to create Covid19 ward with beds (he told us that he has sought the permission of health Ministry of Tamil Nadu) and all the other equipments at Yercaud itself as there are no beds in the district head quarter- Salem. Hence, the task force decided to venture into action with the following action plan.

• To cooperate and collaborate with the Government especially with the medical team to prevent the spread.
• To raise public awareness about the importance of taking a swap test and help medical team in the local villages to conduct swap test.
• To establish COVID HELP DESKS in two locations.
• To work with government and get ready with the Covid Ward with all the necessary equipments.
• To offer support to have contact search.
• To form local volunteers in the villages with the youth groups of the Retreat – Don Bosco.
• To provide food and provisions to the families and people affected and infected by Covid19.
The task force vowed to stand together with the people and combat Covid19 and make shevaroyhills Covid free hill station.
